EVP is short for Electronic Voice Phenomena. Paranormal Investigators have found that sounds which were not apparent at the time of recording have been imprinted on audio and video recordings taken in purportedly haunted locations. EVP have been captured using tape recorders, digital audio recorders, video cameras of various types, and motion picture film cameras.
EVP can be as simple as a single word, or as complex as a spoken message. EVP have been recorded in various languages.
By definition, EVP only includes voices. However, phantom sounds of various kinds (such as footsteps or knocking, for example) have also been recorded.
